Career
Based Intervention (CBI) is a work-study program that promotes career success
and financial literacy through authentic learning in the classroom and in a
real workplace.
The
real life skills and knowledge acquired in this class help students set life
goals for success after high school.
The work experience component of Career Based Intervention (CBI) offers students the ability to attend school for half a day and work the other half (minimum of 15 hours per week). Students may enroll during their junior and/or senior years.
CBI introduces
students to many career themes and topics, some of which include:
- Graduating high school with a PLAN - attending college, joining the military, earning credentials
- Job search - resumes, cover letters, reference letters, interviewing skills, grooming and etiquette
- Workplace success - etiquette, communication, attitude, and networking
- Money management - budgeting, bank accounts, tax planning, buying a car and real estate
- Financial security - investments, establishing good credit, credit cards, interest rates
Many local professionals from various businesses and organizations present information to the class on salaries, benefits, and other topics of interest.
This class is offered at the Education Complex in Celina and at St. Marys Memorial High School.
