Tri Star Career Compact Students Kaylee Weadock and Junior Mejia were recognized at the Darke, Auglaize, Mercer “Twenty Under Twenty” Banquet held at Romers in St. Henry, Ohio.

These outstanding students were honored for their accomplishments and for having worked collaboratively through career training and other career development activities.

The purpose of this honor and initiative is to connect education and business to help secure a skilled workforce. Our region has witnessed a shortage of skilled workers and this group is working to encourage and support mentoring, part-time work, job shadowing, internships, co-op programs and other business partnerships.

Tri Star CBI student Junior Mejia received an Outstanding Performance and Positive Attitude award from Ferguson Enterprises in Celina. We are very proud of Junior and what he has accomplished as a Tri Star CBI student!

CBI Outstanding Student Award Winners, 2017

Congratulations to Tri Star CBI Outstanding Student Award winners for 2017! Mackenzie Lyle and Clay Parker (both from Celina High School) are pictured with their instructor Mr. Don Berry.

Mackenzie Lyle and Clay Parker were honored at Tri Star's Award Banquet at Romers. These outstanding students were selected based on their positive employer reviews and great work ethics!

Junior Mejia at Ferguson Distribution Center

Tri Star Career Based Intervention (CBI) student Junior Mejia is gaining valuable work experience while working at the Ferguson Distribution Center in Celina. 

In addition, Junior completed the evening adult welding program last year. Gaining skills and work experience for the future is possible for high school students through Tri Star!

Speaker Mr. Bill Martin, CEO Mercer Savings Bank

Tri Star Career Compact CBI class would like to thank Mr. Bill Martin, President & CEO from Mercer Savings Bank, for talking to students about many opportunities in the banking industry. 

Mr. Martin also discussed the importance of saving for the future. This was great way for students to learn from a professional. CBI students have learned about investing, annuities, financial advisors, bonds, CD's, budgeting, and much more. 

Mr. Martin's discussion of these terms helped tremendously with student learning and understanding.

WSU Lake Campus Exploration Academy

Students from New Bremen, Minster, and New Knoxville learned about the soft skills necessary to obtain and maintain employment.

Seven Students Employed at Visions Awardcraft in Celina

Seven Career Based Intervention (CBI) students are currently employed at Visions Awardcraft in Celina. The students are currently working part-time 20 - 25 hours per week while attending classes at Celina High School and Tristar.

In the photo above, Stephanie McCarter, Samara Wendel, and Austin Boeckman are silk screening awards that are distributed worldwide.

Alex List works in logistics, ensuring that products reach the correct destinations, and Mackenzie Lyle works in inventory and has been employed with Visions for two years.

Students not appearing in photos are Caleb Kraner and Evan Stachler.

Because several of these students are only 17 years old, they are only eligible to work for a manufacturing company like Visions Awardcraft because of their participation in a career technical education program. Students attending career tech. education programs receive safety training as a part of the class, which enables manufacturers to employ them.
